Tom & Cathy Visit Kauai - Day 8

Every vacation must come to an end, although we met plenty of people who came to Kauai to visit and ended up staying.

Nonetheless, we had several hours before our flight, so we just had to do something. Since Waimea Canyon was rainy and partly fogged in both times we saw it previously, we decided to make another trip up there in hopes of seeing its full extent and glory. Although we were made somewhat nervous by the rental car's fuel indicator suddenly dropping from an eighth of a tank to E on the way up, we were treated to a crystal clear view of the canyon, and enough gas for the round trip.

Waimea Canyon and River

Although the canyon was clearer on this trip, the waterfall barely visible below was more spectacular on our first trip, fed by the rainstorm and accented by a rainbow. Of course, the details of the canyon itself stand out more when not being upstaged by the water show.
