We decided to take the morning off from the tourist beat and hang loose in the room. Cathy worked at cross stitching and Tom read physics papers. We really can be too energetic at times.
Our planned afternoon activity was to go on a whale watching trip. The folks at Na Pali Adventures called us before the trip to let us know that it was going to be a "windy, wet and wild adventure" and to make sure we still wanted to go. Being gluttons for punishment, and after the previous day's helicopter ride, completely unafraid of a boat ride, we said yes.
The ride wasn't really as bad as we expected, but we did get sprayed with mist a lot and splashed a few times. We did see some whale spouts and got a very brief glimpse of the hump from a humpback whale. That was a poor enough showing that we qualified for the whale watching guarantee, which means we get to go out and get baked and splashed again at no extra charge. Our boat was manned by Captain Tim and First Mate Paul, who were knowledgeable and entertaining. Here they are bidding us a fond farewell.
